Iron age meteorites

Danebury Hill Fort, Stockbridge, Hampshire.

The Danebury Hill fort is about 3km north of Stockbridge, Hampshire. It was an active site used by people  for most of the British “iron age”. During excavation work a small meteorite was found at the bottom of a pit. What was a meteorite doing  there?

Even though the meteorite exterior is very oxidised and coated in a thick layer of alteration with Hampshire chalk stuck to it from its time in the grain pit, the internal meteorite sample is very well preserved.
