Type- Ordinary Chondrite L6

Fell 14th March 1881

Location – Middlesbrough, Yorkshire, England

Total known weight – 1.6kg

Circumstances – This is one of the best examples of an orientated meteorite with deep flow lines radiating from the leading edge. A group of four railway workers heard a roaring sound followed seconds later by a thud. Just yards from where they were working they found the meteorite embedded in the embankment.  A cast was later made of the impact pit to preserve it.
